INTRODUCTION

International Conference on Strategic and Global Studies (ICSGS) firstly introduced to the academic society in 2017 along with the establishment of School of Strategic and Global Studies as a transformation from Graduate School. The ICSGS meant to be a platform for academic society to come together, disseminate the research and academic thinking, expand the network, and strengthen the cohesion with partners across the globe.

The first ICSGS was held in Universitas Indonesia’s Depok Campus, West Java. It was attended by approximately 100 participants from all over Indonesia and neighboring countries. The second ICSGS was held in Universitas Indonesia’s Salemba Campus, Jakarta where more than 100 participants attended the 2-days conference. The third ICSGS was held in Sari Pacific Hotel Jakarta as more and more participants are joining the cause. When the pandemic outbreak struck the world, the fourth ICSGS strives and adapted the change by utilizing Zoom online platform to hold the conference. The participants reached 200 attendants from all over the world.  The fifth ICSGS then held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia along with Malaysian Universities’ partners. The involvement of foreign participants are growing significantly where at least 7 nationalities among hundreds attendants, including the keynote speakers and panelists.

As Universitas Indonesia is focussing on internationalization mission, the ICSGS is holding the responsibility as well. Thus, the sixth ICSGS was held in Istanbul cooperated with Medipol University, Turkiye.  The event invited many Turkish Universities’ partners and local participants to collaborate and share the idea of the discourse set as the theme of the conference. The seventh ICSGS was held in Melbourne cooperated with Deakin University, Australia. Then, the latest conference of the eighth ICSGS was held in Nanchang, hosted by Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics where it attended by more than 250 participants in-person and 100 participants online from many parts of the world and nationalities.

Universitas Indonesia is caring for raising the impact of academic and education to society and the world. Therefore, the ICSGS is harnessing the capability and capacity of researcher, lecturer, student and academic society to leverage the platform as a global network hub which attempt to fulfil the Sustainable Development Goals from the points as follow,

This efforts have been appreciated by the increase of university ranking in THE Impact factor as Universitas Indonesia is maintaining its top 10 world university which gave significant impact to Poverty Eradication.
